When you can't seem to find it anywhere else try one of the following national and local clearinghouses. Each of these resources provides a variety of information pertaining to individuals with disabilities and their families.

Maryland Flag Maryland Resources

The Parents' Place of Maryland

The Parents' Place of Maryland offers parent education classes, resource help, organizational referrals, and parent educators to support and assist families concerning issues in special education. The Parents' Place also maintains a library, a database of support groups, and publishes a quarterly newsletter.

SAILOR offers a variety of public information pertaining to the State of Maryland. Sponsored by the local Maryland public libraries, this site has extensive state and local government information.

ERIC Clearinghouse on Disabilities and Gifted Education provides a variety of information on the education of individuals with disabilities as well as those who are gifted.

Family Village
The Family Village provides information, resources and communications opportunities for persons with disabilities and their families.

MCARE

MCARE is the National Clearinghouse on Managed Care and Long-Term Supports and Services for People with Developmental Disabilities and Their Families. The MCARE website seeks to provide the most current information available on managed care, long-term services and supports, self-determination, and other related areas. MCARE will provide the latest news articles, upcoming conferences and events, government documents, research and policy papers, and individual perspectives.

National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS)

Through its toll-free hotline and e-mail, NDSS receives more than 25,000 requests a year for information on Down syndrome. The professionally staffed information and referral service responds to questions from parents, professionals and other interested individuals from the United States and abroad. Information packets, resource lists and fact sheets are available at no cost.
